Audiology

A guide to searching for scholarly literature in audiology

Helpful Databases

It is always a good idea to search for articles on a given topic by searching a database.  In our library we have several available.

Start with Academic Search Complete.
Click on the Choose Databases link located on top of the search box.

You can select a wide variety of relevant databases such as:

   CINAHL Complete

   Cochrane Database fo Systematic Reviews

   Communication & Mass Media Complete

   eBook Collection (EBSCOhost)

   Health Source:  Nursing/Academic Edition

   MEDLINE

   Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection

   PsycINFO

Once you have selected these databases, you will be searching all of them at the same time!

Another valuable database for audiology is ComDisDome

Free places to search for scholarly information

SpeechBITE an open source database of scholarly research

Google Scholar is a great place to search but we do not have access to all of the articles there.

For articles that are not available on Google Scholar, go to the library home page at library.lamar.edu

and click the Journals tab for journals we may have access to, or click the Library Catalog tab for the books.

If the items are not available, feel free to use Interlibrary Loan to get copies emailed to you!

There is no charge for ILL and you could receive the articles in your email within 1 to 3 days.

If you are not sure about getting access to something, feel free to email me at karen.nichols@lamar.edu.
