Lectura y VidaIn March of 1980 the first issue of Reading and Life was published. Revista Latinoamericana of Reading (paper ISSN 0325-8637) . For 31 years, the magazine reached its readers punctually every three months. Undoubtedly, it was the tireless work of María Elena Rodríguez, its first director, who held for almost 30 years a small team that did this great work. This was the only magazine in Spanish of the International Reading Association.
But Reading and Life was more than a magazine. It was and is a professional community of reading around a collection of texts that offers multiple possibilities for reading. A chronological journey allows us to know what have been some of the trends in research in the field of reading and writing over three decades. A follow-up of the author or a theoretical line makes it possible to reconstruct the evolution of some specific ideas. Tracing a topic leads to discovering different ways of approaching it. It will depend on the readers to find their own paths in the multiple possible routes offered by the built territory. This is what your readers have always done, and this is what the new ones will continue to do thanks to the opening of this site.
