Search the Library Online Catalog to find books about any subject related to psychology. You may search by subject, title, or author. You can check your subject in the Library of Congress Subject Headings books. The following are some selected subject headings:
aggressiveness
organizational behavior
behavior modification
psychology, applied
child development
psychology, clinical
dreams
psychology, comparative
educational psychology
psychology--research

You can also do a keyword search to combine terms that are not normally found together such as DSM-IV and guide or psychology and reading. The AND must appear between your terms in order for the search to retrieve the appropriate materials.
Our catalog is located on our main webpage: www.lamar.edu/library.
Search for words and phrases related to your research topic. Depending on how broad or narrow your topic is, use different searches for better results. Choose the different searches from the pull-down list beside the search box.

Keyword
The subject searches focus on subject headings. Keyword matches terms against titles, authors, subjects, table of contents, and other information. Keyword is looser than the subject searches but it will work for terms not found in the subject headings.
You can also use operators with the keyword search.
If a book has online in the call number and electronic resource noted in the title, it is an e-book. Each e-book has a URL link near the right side of the screen. That link will take you to the e-book.
E-books are duplications of printed books, so the content is consistent page-by-page with the print edition.
Copyright law limits the number of pages that can be copied from any book whether electronic or hard copy. E-book providers excercise the right to limit the number of pages you print, with interfaces programmed to prevent you from exceeding those limits. Remember that the number of pages you can print is limited, so choose carefullly.
Ebooks via Ebscohost Printing Tips
You can only print one page at a time from books in Ebooks via Ebscohost. Right click the page you want, and choose "Print." Alternately, you can load and print the page through Adobe Acrobat by clicking the "Print Current Page" button. Do NOT use your browser print command, as this will print the side bars and not the page itself.
ebrary Printing Tips
For best results, use the Internet Explorer browser (not Firefox). Click the blue "ebrary Reader" button to download the ebrary Reader. When the book is open in ebrary Reader, you will see a printer icon. This will allow you to print up to 5 pages at a time
E-books (electronic books) are accessed differently from off-campus, due to security, copyright laws, and licensing.
To access e-books from off-campus:
Select Database List on the library home page
Click on E for either E-brary or E-books on EBSCOhost and choose the collection you want to use.
Log in using your LEA username and password
Once you are logged in, search by the title of the book you want to use or search by subject or keyword.
